H&T Pawnbrokers are moving back to their original premises on Walworth Road, which they once occupied over 100 years ago. With their current shop soon to be lying dormant they have decided to donate it to local businesses, designers and artists to give them their own taste of life on the high street.
With the decline of the high street evident up and down the country, H&T see this as an opportunity to keep the high-street vibrant and interesting for the local community while giving budding entrepreneurs and fledgling artists the opportunity to showcase their work.
Completely free of charge and available for 2 week slots, the premises will be made available for the next few months. Commenting on the project, John Nichols, CEO of H&T Pawnbrokers, said ‘We are really excited to be able to offer the shop to the local community. We hope it shows what an exciting place the British high-street can be and how much talent and entrepreneurial flair is out there.’
