Lucky Stephanie Giblin, an Ayrshire student nurse, has won the May Facebook competition to ‘get your bills paid’ with H&T.

The nursing student had taken out a payday loan with us and went in store to work out how best to pay back the money. As part of our responsible lending policy, staff offered her a more suitable loan that she could pay off over a longer period, with a much lower interest rate. Stephanie took to Facebook to comment on her visit to the store. At the time, we were running our ‘pay your bills’ competition which encourages customers to post their story of when H&T has given them a helping hand, with a winning post being chosen every month.

Stephanie entered the competition two days before it closed by writing on the pawnbroker’s Facebook wall:

 ‘One month i was struggling to keep up with my rollovers and wanted to pay it off so the staff at h&t were so hopeful and managed to change it to a short term loan which was much easier to pay off. The staff at ayr were brilliant. Just proves h&t are part of the community and should be valued.

If i win wud love h&t to pay my rent wud b great help a student nurse out who works 60hr a week :-)’

Two days later, H&T contacted Stephanie to inform her that she had won the prize, electing to have her rent paid for one month Stephanie commented

‘Thank you, just to say a big thank you and that it has really helped me out this month. Being a student can be hard so I can enjoy myself for a change so thank you very much!’
